On Monday, May 6, 2019, workers of the CODEVI free trade zone in Ounaminthe, Haiti went on strike to protest a wage tax imposed by the Haitian state. The alleged tax is for social services which the workers have never received though it has been effect for some time.

For the past 2/3 weeks at the CODEVI plant, there has been a wave of mobilization for wage adjustments. Workers who sew T-shirt hemlines at the MD factory stood up to demand more money for the quota they were asked to do.
